About the Date Calculator

Find the elapsed number of calendar days between two dates, or calculate a new date by adding or subtracting whole days. Results update immediately and all calculations happen locally in your browser.

How days are counted

The standard difference measures elapsed calendar days, so January 1 to January 2 is one day. Turn on Include end date to count both endpoints; the same example then counts as two days. If the end date is earlier, the calculator shows the same absolute difference and identifies the reversed order.

Time zones and leap years

Inputs are treated as dates only, with no time of day. UTC-based calendar arithmetic keeps the result stable across time zones and daylight-saving changes. Leap days are validated and counted automatically.

FAQ

Are the start and end dates both included?

By default, the calculator shows elapsed days and does not include the end date. Select Include end date to count both calendar endpoints.

How does the calculator handle time zones and daylight saving time?

It treats every input as a calendar date without a time or time zone. Calculations use UTC internally, so daylight-saving changes cannot add or remove a day.

Does the calculator support leap years?

Yes. Valid leap days are included automatically when calculating a difference or shifting a date.
